Living with an original

How to acquire a painting or a bronze, and how a commission works from the first conversation to delivery.

Acquiring a work

Enquire

Write about a piece. You receive a high-resolution image, a condition note and a price within two working days.

Reserve

A work is held for 14 days against a 20% deposit, or free of charge for existing collectors.

Acquire

Payment by bank transfer. A signed certificate of authenticity and an invoice are issued with the work.

Delivery

Crated, insured and shipped worldwide, or collected from the studio. Installation in Portugal on request.

Commissions

I accept a small number of commissions each year, in oil or bronze. Typical starting prices are below; the final price depends on size, edition and patina.

Paintings

Oil on panel, up to 60 × 80 cmfrom €3,200

Delivered in 8 to 10 weeks

Oil on linen, up to 120 × 160 cmfrom €8,500

Delivered in 4 to 5 months

Bronzes

Small bronze, up to 35 cm, edition of 8from €6,500

Delivered in 6 to 8 months

Portrait head, life size, uniquefrom €18,000

Three sittings; delivered in about 12 months

Good to know

AuthenticitySigned certificate with every work, with the edition number for bronzes.

FramingPaintings are delivered with a hand-made oak floater frame, included in the price.

Payment30% deposit on commissions, balance on completion. Bank transfer in euros.

Can I see a work in person before buying?

Yes. Studio visits are welcome by appointment, and works can be viewed at Galeria Ponto Azul in Lisbon.

Do you ship abroad?

Yes. Works are crated and insured, and shipped worldwide with tracking. Shipping is quoted per piece.

Can I change a commission once it has started?

Small adjustments are fine until the wax is cast or the final layers are applied. We agree the stages in writing at the start.
