Thursdays, the room sings
Live fado at Tasca do Largo: a fadista, a Portuguese guitar, a classical guitar and forty people holding their breath. Dinner first, then two sets.

“Silêncio, que se vai cantar o fado.”
Silence, fado is about to be sung. When the lights dim, the kitchen pauses, glasses stay on the table and nobody talks. Between the sets, the noise and the plates come back.
A Thursday at the tasca
Fado nights are dinner only. Arrive early, eat well, then let the music take over.
Doors and first plates
Petiscos and a glass of wine while the room fills up.
First set
Three or four fados, classics from Amália to the new Alfama songwriters.
Interval
Mains, desserts, a Moscatel. The musicians eat with us.
Second set
Slower, darker, and usually a song the whole room knows.
